The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway
Sketched up this concept at a craft fair yesterday and decided to produce it. Thought it would make a nice, wintery print. Hand drawn on A3 paper dontcha know? Bonus points for anyone who guesses the lyric!

I absolutely love your Christmas card designs! I was just wondering what tools you use to draw and such? Do you use digital and if so do you prefer it over paper? Also, for my last question, how did YOU become an illustrator? :) xx

You’re so lovely and sweet, thank you! :)
I use digital, but I create 90% of my work by hand with traditional tools.
I hand draw everything! I paint/colour/scribble then scan pieces separately and piece them together digitally. I love the textured detail you get traditionally, especially for children’s books.

I’ve only just recently graduated from University (september 2013) after completely a degree in illustration. I have always wanted to be a children’s book illustrator and have been inspired by so many beautiful books. I’ve just made some brilliant contacts in the industry through working hard, sending out lots of work and making a good impression. These things have made an illustrator so far! :) xx

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Tonight and all day Sunday I will be selling my latest prints, Christmas Cards and Christmas Tags/Decorations at certain events in Norwich! If norwich is too far away from where you live but would still like something special for Christmas, i’m still shipping Etsy orders in time for Christmas!

Hey there, I'm an aspiring artist, my dream is to become an illustrator. But I have no idea what to do to reach my goal. I'm still in highschool so I would like to know what I can do now, to get to where I wanna be? I draw all the time, people say I have the skill, but I know it takes more than skill to get me where I wanna be.

Hi there!
Becoming an illustrator isn’t like becoming a doctor for example. There isn’t a definite way to get to where you want to be. It happens to each illustrator differently!
Have you thought about art school after you’ve finished high school? I think there are some brilliant Art Schools in America that teach a wide variety of art careers.
I studied Illustration at University just recently (in England). It was brilliant, I learnt a lot and more importantly I got time to draw and get better and better.
As long as you keep drawing, you will get to where you want to be. Don’t be afraid to draw from life. Also look at illustrators and where you find illustration, would your style work in a children’s book/advertisement/magazine etc?
I hope that some of this advice is helpful at all!
Please let me know how you get on or if you have anymore questions! :)

The Book Sniffer’s Christmoose Party

Over a month ago I received an amazing invitation to a Christmas Party filled with some of the best Children’s book Illustrators in the UK. I couldn’t quite believe my eyes! So of course, I said yes! And hopped onto a train to London.
I’m already lucky enough to call some illustrators friends already and felt very welcome and was pretty choked up to hear famous illustrator call me by my name and knew who I was!
One of the best parts was that we all brought Secret Santa Presents of our work. And I got the fabulous Steven Lenton, who wrapped up three whole beautiful books!!
And one of the nicest feelings in the world was when Guy received my Secret Santa present and was so chuffed to have it!
So thank you Book Sniffer for hosting a BRILLIANT event and for inviting me! :)
