Winter Blues Mug on Etsy

So my mugs have finally arrived from the manufacturers and they look brilliant. I’m so excited to share them! This is my first adventure into art licensing my work onto products like this personally. I really hope you like them. There’s a very limited stock as many have already been pre-ordered.

You can order them via my Etsy

Valetine’s Day Cat

Designed a card for those who are as romantic as I am (meaning not that much!) However if someone gave you this card, you’d be a big deal being liked more than cats (just saying!)
Popping cards with this design on my Etsy tomorrow.

Beast! Norwich

Before Christmas I blogged about Beast! and what we do as a collective of illustrators. We created a series of Christmas Cards to raise money for local charity, The Hamlet Centre. Yesterday we went and gave them a cheque for £166! I feel so proud to be helping such a wonderful charity and I really hope that we make a difference, no matter how small!
There’s rumblings of even having an art day with the children at The Hamlet Centre, which i’d LOVE!

So naturally we celebrated as a group with Fish and Chips! (yummy!)

Otters
Designed originally to be a Valentine’s day card, but I think its a bit more versatile than that now. Soon to be for sale as a card/print via my Etsy

Cardboard Boxes
Over Christmas I create a sketch of a child dressed as an astronaut made from cardboard boxes. This inspired me to create an illustration with lots of fun and imagination from what children can create with cardboard boxes!
It’s been a massive challenge as I’ve gone for a much softer style than I normally do, I hope its worked out ok!

January Blues
I know January kind of sucks, but you’ve got to look at the positives! So I decided to make a background about my favourite things of January…which is mainly knitwear and hot drinks :D  Feel free to use this as a background for your PC/Mac or any form of personal use if you like! Show me a pic if you do, i’d love to see!

gosh your stuff is full of so much cute! I was wondering, do you have any advice for a soon-to-be illustration graduate? :')

Hiya there!

Thank you kindly for your lovely words, I really appreciate it :)

Well i’m a fresh faced graduated myself so i’m currently riding the rough waves of freelancing myself!
It’s not easy but the feeling of when you do get work and recognition is completely worth the hard work.

Know how to market yourself as a brand and your work. You noticed that my work is ‘cute’ so as you guess I work in Children’s Illustration mostly. There are many other platforms and routes you can take. Make your art style and portfolio consistent. Clients LOVE consistency so they know that you’ll provide what they’re expecting and they’ll hire you again.

Take every opportunity that arises, if you see competitions, enter them! It’s a great way to make new clients and pay some bills.

Send promotion material such as postcards once you’ve mastered your style. Send it to publishers, agencies, businesses, anyone who would want to use your work! You may not get a quick response but you’ll be surprised how often your work is kept until that right time they need you.

My best advice for an upcoming graduate it to relax and make the most of making beautiful art! After my degree show I was frantically applying to agencies, publishing houses, and jobs I just wasn’t ready for yet just because I was terrified about ‘making it’ and what other people might say or think.
If you take the time to make your work beautiful, get a part time job to pay the bills so you don’t have that as a stress (believe me it helps. Lots of successful illustrators have a supplementary income it’s not a bad thing) The work will naturally happen and come!

I hope this helps, sorry it’s a lot of rambling!!

The problem is there just isn’t one simple way to being successful as an illustration and its different for each person!

(By the way your work looks fab, very much has a clear direct style in terms of editorial with its bold, graphical colours) :)

Enjoy your final year, good luck with completing your degree!

I’m FINALLY happy and content with the background! So it’s finished. Personal project of a wrap around picture book cover.

Hi, my blog is in dire need of an artist. Do you know anyone who could draw a couple of landscapes and characters for free for me? If you could answer back that would be great, I'm not one to hold a grudge or make threats but I will take my business elsewhere.

You will not find an artist who is willing to do free work for you unless they are a good friend or family members of yours. Artists need paid, they need to pay rent, they need to EAT.  So please, do take your business elsewhere.

Wow, the nerve of some people.
